Temple of Color and Sound: The Practice of Diaspora (a salon)

  • Le Musée de f.p.c. 2336 Esplanade Avenue New Orleans, LA, 70119 United States (map)

For P.5's first Public Program in 2021 we are excited to invite you to an evening of conversation and libations at the Le Musée de f.p.c. for "Temple of Color and Sound: The Practice of Diaspora (a salon)" presented by P.5 Programming Partner, Kristina Kay Robinson.

Hosted in honor of the Nardal Sisters, three sisters from Martinique, who organized a cultural salon, La Revue du monde noir, in the Paris suburb of Clamart during the 1930s.

Their discussions and activities preceded and birthed what would later come to be known as the Negritude movement. Our salon, titled for Brent Edwards Hayes’ seminal work, will explore and examine the historic, sensual and aesthetic relationships and connections of the Black Diaspora through literature, food, art, music and most importantly, conversation.
